As winter settles in, the first snowfalls will make anyone dream of an escape to the mountains. Ski resorts vary a lot between America’s East and West. It can be hard to choose, but finding a ski resort in the Rockies is more enticing for the experienced skier.
Here are my two favorite ski resorts in the Rockies:
Steamboat, Colorado, about three hours from Denver offers a huge selection of ski slopes. Over 2000 meters high, this ski resort is family friendly and for skiers of all levels.
Hotels are at the foot of the slopes with a varied choice of restaurants and bars.
Grand Teton Village, in Wyoming, is a ski resort renowned by experienced skiers. Its unique location in Grand Teton National Park (next to Yellowstone National Park) and its proximity to Jackson Hole, make it the ideal destination for ski and nature enthusiasts. Skiers will love skiing in this spectacular mountainous setting, while nature lovers can enjoy a dog sled ride and relax in the natural hot springs. Jackson Hole, a real cowboy town, is also an attraction in itself with its saloons and cute shops. There are lots of hotels on the slopes to choose from.
